2015 - 2016

Oakfield School Council attended the Wickford Schools Council Conference at the CLC on Friday, 26th September 2014.  They discussed ways of ensuring a school council works well.  The day was such a success that a Wickford Schools Council is going be formed and an action plan to improve Wickfords park has already begun.

Last year the School Council introduced the House Point system in school.  This year the School Council will be looking for further ways to make school a great place.  They will be introducing a Box System so all members of the school can make a suggestion and see what they come up with.

So far this year we have:

  • Introduced a Noticeboard on the way to Assembly so all the children can see issues to discuss in Class Council Meetings.
  • Held a discussion on what it is to be British and what are British values.  This has been instrumental to Oakfield's celebrations for the Queens 90th birthday.  See our latest news section for photos.
  • Class Council members requested new reading books.  They conducted surveys of the most popular books and one of the School Council members met with the Literacy Co-ordinator to request some new books.  New books have since been purchased.
  • On 22nd June we are hosting the Wickford Dance Festival and the School Council will be part of the hospitality team showing guest schools around our school.

Currently the School Council are discussing ideas for more inter-house competitions.  If you have any ideas, please can you pass them onto your Class Council representative.
