Dear Parents/Carers,
I just experienced another great day at the Oakfield Summer Fete which helps raise a very sizable amount of money that buys some much needed resources that help give the children a better and more enjoyable education. I was running the Stocks, which I have to say was great fun especially due to the teachers that bravely got absolutely soaked in the spirit of the occasion. We also had Governors helping out on the Coconut Shy and Refreshments, so I think they deserve a big thank you as well. Mostly, however, I wanted to thank the Friends of Oakfield committee who organised the whole day and made the Fete a huge success. They always do an outstanding job and were working tirelessly in their blue t-shirts on the day, making sure that all the little problems were overcome without any impact on the attending public. I also want to recognise many of the staff who dedicated their own time to help make the day a great success. They were led by Mrs McMillan who as usual, led by example flipping burgers and soaking up wet sponges on the stocks. The children clearly love their time at Oakfield under her leadership. She and the other members of staff did us proud, so a big “thank you” to all of them.
Lastly, and probably most importantly, thank you to all the parents, carers, children, friends and family that attended on the day and made the Fete a massive hit. The weather was quite kind to us and you helped contribute to make a total that I am told is well over £3000. Our community spirit at Oakfield is a strength that we should all admire and be grateful for.
Thank you, on behalf of all the Governors for a resounding success, which would not have been possible without the help from all those mentioned above.
David Faulkner, Chair of Governors
